Yogi hits out at Priyanka Gandhi, says 'while one Congress MP is roaming with Palestine bag...'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, criticizing her party’s stance and actions. Referring to a Congress Member of Parliament, Yogi remarked, “While one Congress MP is roaming around with a Palestine bag, the Congress leadership remains disconnected from national priorities.”

On the second day of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s winter session, the Yogi Adityanath government presented the supplementary budget for 2024-25. State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna tabled a proposal for an additional expenditure of Rs 790 crore.

Addressing the house, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a hub for investors due to the government’s “zero-tolerance” policy toward crime. He added that the state is now riot-free, which has boosted investor confidence.

The Chief Minister urged opposition parties to engage in constructive debates on public-centric issues to uphold the dignity of the Assembly. He highlighted the reopening of closed sugar mills in the state and assured that payments to sugarcane farmers are being processed within a week.

7 lakh jobs provided in UP

During his address, CM Yogi listed the government’s achievements, emphasizing job creation. He stated that 1.60 lakh recruitments have been made in the education department and 1.56 lakh in the police department. In total, over 7 lakh jobs have been provided across various sectors. Yogi stressed that reservations were strictly followed in the recruitment process. Criticizing the previous government, he claimed, “Under the previous regime, out of 86 posts, 56 were filled from a single caste. The UP Public Service Commission chairman appointed during the SP government was not even qualified to be a teacher.”

Shivpal Yadav targets BJP

Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav countered the government, stating, “We have also brought supplementary budgets during our tenure and utilized them effectively. However, this government repeatedly presents supplementary budgets but fails to spend the allocated funds. No work has been completed, and the budget remains unutilized.”

On the “One Nation, One Election” proposal, Shivpal Yadav declared the Samajwadi Party’s opposition, alleging, “This is an attempt to impose dictatorship and weaken democracy in the country.”

Deputy CM defends budget

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak defended the supplementary budget, asserting that it would strengthen infrastructure in the state, enhance preparations for the upcoming Mahakumbh, and improve law and order. “We are working to ensure UP’s development across all fronts,” Pathak said.

The session witnessed intense exchanges as both sides presented their arguments over budget allocations and governance priorities.
